Our Transcriptionists
“Allowing communication to happen
” takes many forms. SLIS does not only offer sign language interpreting, but also offers transcription services. Our transcriptionists use technology to deliver "real-time speech-to-text" service for classes or meetings. SLIS transcriptionists use specialized software that allows them to change speech into text at a very rapid rate.
The transcriptionists set up their own computers, one for transcribing and one for the consumer to read the real-time transcript. For more information about transcription services, please contact us.

TypeWellA love of learning and people led me to the unexpected world of TypeWell transcribing. I completed my training in 2007 with Judy Colwell at worked onsite at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. After about a year I began working remotely and here I am, still loving what I do many years later. In my off-work hours, I enjoy spending time with my little, baking and cooking. I paint in watercolors and acrylics. I am always eager to travel. Being with those I love, lots of laughter and music fills me up.
Darla Sautter
TypeWellDarla has been a TypeWell transcriber since 2009. She lives in the wine country of southeastern Washington state and is a single mom with the last two (of seven) children still at home. She is very active in her local Eastern Orthodox Church, and is also an avid pickleball player. When Darla has a few days off, she loves to get to the Oregon coast or Lake Pend Oreille in Idaho for some quiet time near the water.
